With love we remember
Kathleen Rhoda Rhodes
(nee Wright)
1922 - 2004

A Moment of Reflection
Kathleen was the only surviving daughter of Henry & Frances Esther Wright of Kingshill, Wednesbury. She had three older and one younger brother.
Mom attended St Andrews Church School and also Kingshill Girls School, Wednesbury. As a young teenager she continued the musical family trend when she played the Cornet in the Double Six Jazz Band at Joynson Street, Kingshill. Her Father Henry and two brothers were accomplished brass band musicians with Rubery Owens Work Band.
Mom's working life between 1939 and 1943 was spent in munitions factories such as the Quasi Ark (The shadow factory). In 1941 she met Dad whilst he was on leave from the South Staffordshire Regiment. After a courtship of less than a year they married on 21st November 1942 at St Bartholomews Church in Wednesbury.
Mom and Dad brought three sons and three daughters into the world between 1944 and 1962.
Mom had suffered ill health for many years which gradually became more demanding of her amazing strength. After almost 62 years of marriage, 6 children, 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, sadly she departed this life on 30th March 2004, just 5 days after her 82nd birthday.
Mom will always be remembered with great love by all of her family. She was the most loving and hardworking wife and Mother, a true lady whose generosity, caring and playful sense of humour will always remain in our hearts and minds.

All is well Death is nothing at all I have only slipped into the next room I am I and you are you Whatever we were to each other, that we are still Call me by my familiar name Speak to me in the way you always used Put no difference in your love Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow Laugh as we always laughed at little jokes we enjoyed together Play, smile, think of me, pray for me Let my name be ever the household word that it always has Let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of shadow on it Life means all it ever meant It is the same as it ever was, there is unbroken continuity Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am just waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near All is well
Henry Scott Holland 1847 - 1918 Canon of St Pauls Cathedral

I Need to say Goodbye I need to say goodbye although you're with me. I stand beside your grave, yet you are here. I miss you terribly and hope you miss me, But when I turn to you, you're always near. I talk to you as though you lived within me, Not changed but simply moved in from outside. I know each day you must a little leave me, But here, as always, you must be my guide. You were and are and will be, just as ever, In many minds and hearts, not only mine. No physical event can such love sever; Death is a dimension, not a line. And so goodbye does not mean you are gone: So long as I still love you, you live on.

May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And the rains fall soft upon your fields.
And, until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand
|
|
May the Lord Bless you and keep you And make his countenance to shine upon you, And forever give you peace

For over 200 years Moms lineage has been firmly established in the Black Country, mainly in Wednesbury and Darlaston. She was a true Black Country girl, proud of her roots as we her family are proud and honoured that she was our Mom.
